Hey forum

It's another one of these "I broke my fe1080ti while removing the backplate" threads.

Never sit down taking gpu apart with a pair of pliers...

On the img, you see half of the capacitor is scratched off. The capacitor is not completely gone, do you think it could still work?

Some things are still not clear after a research such as: how to tell the value of a small ceramic smd capacitor? More specifically, if i find another, same size, will it work allright?

thanks for the help mates

You'd need to desolder it and then measure its capacitance with e.g. a multimeter. Just buying one of same size isn't enough, because there are thousands of values in the same size.

Since it's not completely ripped off, you could just push the capacitor back in its place and carefully add a little bit of new solder to both ends with a fine-tip soldering-iron -- just be careful not to short them together or to any of the adjacent caps. That would most likely be enough to fix it.
