Which games?

I am thinking in general, im thinking about most games, that i can play what i want to play.

and don’t have really awful fps ?

if it can’t do high graphics, that will do, but of course that would be awsm

The CPU might be problematic in modern games; expect some framedrops and stutters in games (although it might look like a decent average fps).

Hmm yeah well okay, that should do? but its weird, my gtx 580 direct cu ii handled many e sports titles on high to with Good fps?

Okay so the cpu could be a problem? Allthough  it is a quad core? Have also heard that is the perfect cpu for that gpu?

We have entered the age of "more than 4 cores" and modern games know how to use 6 or more threads.

An i7, for example, or a 4C/8T Xeon for the same socket, would be far better.

The thing is, you have to look at used parts and sites like AliExpress/Ebay/Gearbest etc.

And those i7-s and Xeons hold prices, almost to the point that you can get a new Ryzen and motherboard for the same money.

Aha i see, then there will be a bit of a problem ? i am pretty broke at the time, dont have more then around 400 bucks a month after i have paid for my house? but i will see, maybe i can save enough in some time?

4770K or 4790K and bit of overclocking will be good for year or two to go. Depending ofc what games you play and how high graphics and resolution you use. If you can get one for relatively easy/cheap. Platform upgrade to newer Intel or AMD will be costly, some $300-600.

you are better of with saving some then going for that old stuff, it was a choice i made last year, could buy a xeon to replace my old i7 for only 60 dollars and that was an impressive gain though my dark side got the better of me and this resulted in me spending another 250 for another mob designed specifically for the xeon one of my relatives pushed me into buying a new system shortly after and there i am, not waisted money but … all in all the complete costs would have been better spend on one new machine then bits and pieces.

then i saved for a new gpu at 500 dollars and maybe next year i will be able to save enough to buy an i10 with accompanied motherboard…. @yeswecan

so for short, if you are able to find a xeon fitting for your socket at a nice price ( under 100 dollar for example ) and benchmarks confirm it is a solid upgrade i say go for it :)

yeah that’s my plan to, just have something that does it’s job for now and upgrade in my pace to something new ☺️ I found one xeon on aliexpress for around 60 dollars, but it does not seem like it is that much better than what i have already?

Yeah that’s exactly the problem, it will be costly to upgrade everything so i don’t have money for it? i saw that 4790k cost’s around 150 dollars tho, so pretty expensive that for an old used cpu?

Yeah now i looked a bit more into it, and it is said that ain’t worth it to upgrade the cpu i have to the xeon, or the other way around, so my choice then would be the 4790k or the 4770k and those are pretty pricey ?

i'm curious to see how your current cpu and the xeon hold up against each other

E3-1230 v3, they say it is basically the same cpu, but the xeon has more threads and takes advantage of that, but not so much that it is worth upgrading

yea you are right, the i5 is even faster, that generation of xeon's was nowhere near previous socket types, strictly server based, the only cpu that seems worth considering is the i7 4790k

ah well, if your setup does not hold you just have to play games that it will hold up too ;)

Yeah exactly??? so i will just see what happens, i believe it would be able to, maybe not on high, but i think it will work?

Yeah, i had to go for something decent but cheap this time.. so im waiting for the sapphire radeon rx570 8gb pulse to arrive ??☺️ They say it could be compared to the 1050 ti so i thought that would have to do for now?

or a 580 ?
my previous gpu was a 1060 3 gb which worked fine, though it managed to get very hot, now i'm running the 2060 super with about the same quality levels ( at half power or 30% even ) but way cooler

the 1060 got me through most games at high quality level ( 1080p 60 hz ) this even with the xeon x5650 and before that the i7 920... if it wasn't for mass effect andromeda maybe i would have had the i7 920 still in use since most of my games are more sim or management not requiring a lot, outside enough memory and a decent cpu

I was thinking about the 580 or 590, but i couldn’t fin it anyplace now so i figured the 570 had to do, the gpu i have now is completely ruined?

yeah the 1060 was the card i first was planning to get, but way more expensive and not so much in difference i have heard?

yeah okey so it got hot too? hmm... but i would have gotten the 6gb if i were gonna buy a 1060☺️ i am pretty excited tho, to see how the 570 performs? but yeah the 2060 super is a really great card! ?

ohh you do sim? What sim you play???

Simcity, Cities, Two point hospital, i'm really loving the hospital game btw, reminds me of the old one in a good fashion but now with pause, running a hospital is as difficult as if its ever been, took me while to build enough format for distinction between junior specialists who are forbidden to enter the OR too old dinosaurs that eat my income every month …. railway empire is another nice game to i find the competition part a bit low

Hmm sounds interesting ?? i thought you were talking about like sim racing, airplane sim etc, i love sim racing you see ?

but i have played some sim city, and think that is a good game, so could be interesting to try som e more games like that?
