A while back I purchased a MSI x370 carbon pro motherboard with 32gb of ram.

 

Turns out the ram was 2 sets of 2x8gb. Both rated for 3000MHz with same timings.

 

My issue is, with all 4 sticks in I can only run them at 2667MHz "stable". How do I fix this, or should I just buy 3200MHz 2x16 ram?

If it's a 1st gen Zen CPU then it's totally normal, the memory controller in those things dont like fast memory and lose potential a lot when capacity and number of sticks increase

Huh, so you're saying I shouldn't waste my time upgrading my ram to a faster speed, then? I've been considering it but if I can't top 2666MHz I'll just go ahead and buy another monitor

Unless your getting more memory (if you need it) no, then it's not worth it.

Have you tried entering timings, dram voltage and frequency manually? But yes sometimes 3000mhz on Ryzen 1 is alot to ask.

try overclocking your current kit further first

I did, it gets to around 2733 without changing anything and 2800 if I loosen the timings by a lot, however I noticed my fps in minecraft was a lot more stable at 2800

tbh 2666 is good enough for Zen 2 when you already have the memory kit, just max out the FCLK to something stable like 1800MHz.

I was just gonna swap the kit out for another 2x8gb as  this speed seems to be making my fps fluctuate in minecraft a lot (120-400fps depending on the situation)

Ah, well I don't have the budget for that yet, I'll go for upgrading my monitor to 75hz first and then wait for my birthday to get a new cpu then

it's much easier to push the latency down with lower frequency like 2666 if not even 2400 as well

Yes I have changed I've changed everything manually. With only 1 kit in 2x8, it will sit at 3000MHz stable. But with both it will only sit at 2667.
