GPU Bottleneck

Hello,

I was gonna build a cheap computer for friend (300 EUR) and I was wondering if pairing a i3-3220 with a GTX 1650 4GB would perform great for gaming only.

He also said he wanted to start with a cheap CPU but will be upgrading it down the line.

The 1650 is the same price as the RX 570 usually but has much less performance. Also, if you go used you can probably afford an i5 2400

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

GPU will not be bottle neck. If possible consider just getting a new R3 2200G and running it with the integrated Vega Graphics for the time being. The upgrade path with that and a B450 motherboard is much better.

I checked the price on the RX 570 and it's the same so it's better to go with that then. About the i5-2400 it's extremely difficult to get used here in Portugal because of shipping and if I can buy locally most people still think it is worth a ton of money...

Well the problem is that he wants to start playing GTA V on High and he's really short on money so he will probably only upgrade anything in probably a year...

I agree.

For right now, an RX570 and sandy bridge or ivy bridge i5 would work very well and has the best value, but I also believe it's a better choice to get a ryzen 2200g with a b450 board and upgrade later when you need it, without needing to replace your motherboard and ram.

Yeah only reason to get the R3 2200G with a decent B450 motherboard is for the upgrade path.

The problem is that money is really short for him and I don't think he will be upgrading in less than an year and he doesn't really want to be playing in low or medium settings...

Ultimately his decision, he just has no upgrade path if he gets a used i3.

Assuming you find a used one yes. Again, being used a steady supply is not guaranteed.
