Custom mouse polling rate

zoeysantana

Hello im new to the forum so please be kind i'e been PC gaming for a while now normally play competitive shooters like CoD, CS  and in those gaming you genuine want the smoothest game play and mouse pointer precision as possible. So here's my question I normal play games at 239fps  capped with in-game fps limiter and  with rivaTuner for better frame Time variables for consistent loads and stagnant input I also have a 240hz monitor My mosue is a Coller Master MM170 mouse I play with it at 250 polling rate which gives an amazing smooth fluidly when panning left to right ect. So I was wondering if I could some how decrease my mouses polling rate to 220-230 because so I can have a 1 to 1 to 1 synchronized frametime fps pollingrate cross talk. I'm not sure if their's any software on the internet that can let me do such a thing I know there's Mouse polling rate adjuster but that only allows incremental jumps 31,60.125.250.500.1000 so if anyone knows anything please reply and thank you for helping :)

you can DM on my discord if you want to get in touch with me thank you and have and good day <3

Yeah thats a bad idea.

I dont know about you, but I can notice a difference between 250 and 500/1000, 500+ being way better.

It wont improve the smoothness of your experience, it will only increase the input lag.

I'm kind of confused, why do you think that decreasing your polling rate to 240 will make you play better? If anything, it will probably make you play worse because it will introduce more delay. The vast majority of CS pros use 1000hz and that's the case in pretty much every FPS.

A mouse only reports when it is moved and also depending on how fast it is moved, the set polling rate is only the maximum at which it reports.

Unlike a screen which is trying to display the max fps even when nothing changes on screen, a mouse doesnt report unless moved.

There are some "mouse rate checker" programs you can use to see the effect. This one https://zowie.benq.com/ja/support/mouse-rate-checker.html from BenQ is a bit laggy but you can easily see the difference between slow and fast mouse movement.

So for your scenario, your synchronization would be 1 to 1 to x

Usually people lower the polling rate if they get input lags, which means their CPU/chipset (not sure which one actually processes that) cant handle high frequencies, but thats mostly in the 1000hz area.

Umm, that's not how it works with polling rate. For 240Hz you really want 1000Hz polling rate, it's more updates and it will be better.

You can check more about it here
