Schiit Stack??

Need maybe an amp for me Audeze el-8's.

 

It needs to be better and worthwhile spending money over the cipher cable otherwise its not an upgrade.

 

Now i've been looking at the schiit stack magni and modi and its been recommended to me. Is it going to be much of an upgrade over the cipher cable for these headphones?

Also theres the vali which dont cost much more, i dont have anywhere to test out this stuff near me so is a tube amp all much better? its only 50 more.

From what I know, the cipher cables actually change the sound of Audeze gear.

So, no I don't think the Schiit stack will be that big of an upgrade when compared to the cipher cables.

Issue with the magni and modi right now is over hyped and not that great. The magni3+ is ok and is a recc but the heresy is a cleaner amp and is actually competitive in today's amp market. The modi though isn't that great of a dac. And you can definitely get a better DAC for your money.

So im sticking with the cipher cable for now,

 

but I have decided i when i get bored i will most likely end up with a heresy and a Meizu Hifi dongle as ive been told thats really good.

 

And ive also been told unless u go big (spend at least 5 grand) theres no point in this hobby so next im saving for a pair of lcd-4's and the king mkii amp.

No that's a pretty big lie. I know people that spend over 10 grand on a DAC alone still enjoy gear that is like $7 off ebay. No matter what your budget there is a space for you in here

i didnt say you cant enjoy it.

 

I meant its not a big enough difference to bother.

Well for an amp the difference in volume is worth the money

Personally i've never had a volume issue.

 

I dont understand this amp volume stuff. For example, the The King mk1 for the lcd-4, then they made a mk2 with '60 percent more power', which in turn lead to people just turning the dial less. What difference does this make if all your doing is just turning the dial less? I guess possibly there could be less interference but then we get to the thing about if you care that much your gonna be spending a few k to get any noticable difference as basically everyone at head-fi.org told me.

True what I'm saying is if your getting a headphone that requires an amp might as well get one but I will just say it's pretty pointless to spend more on an amp than the headphones themselves as that is what makes the most difference
