Hey all,

I built my new pc and was letting me wife play Planet Zoo. Noticed that the temp controlled rgb on the Rog Strix 5700 xt went red and pulled up the temp and it was at 85C.. Is that too hot?

I quickly turned the graphics settings from High down to Medium and it went down a bit. Was shocked that this game ran my GPU hot.

Any tips on keeping this thing cooler? Thought the Strix was supposed have best in class cooling.

I have 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust as well.

Build:

Ryzen 3600x

Rog Strix 5700xt

Gigabyte b450m mobo

16gb RAM

It's a hot card. 225w of heat to dissipate. Tough to brag "best in class" for sure.

Hmm. 767.7 BTU/hr.

You have 3 intake 2 exhaust. What configuration?

I think amd made a statement that 100c is 'normal' for this card....thats a bit warm for my liking. I get nervous when my 5700 (non xt) gets close to 80c

You can always change fan curve for more aggressive but just remember it’ll be a bit louder

Agreed. I had to do that with an oc'd rx 570 that would freeze when temps reached over 80c. I never noticed temps getting above 70 after that

According to amd, they continue boosting until they hit their target thermal junction theshold. They also dont measure temps like traditional gpus. Running hot is normal.

Another option is to add fans in your case or....Buy a Vantec Spectrum PCI Fan Card.

A case with bad airflow... so I used this.

I removed up to 5c AVG from my HD7970 OC beast from the  past... using a 90mm 1200rpm single fan version of a PCI slot cooling fan.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

These are hot running cards so I wouldnt worry unless you see temperatures get over 95-100. Amd even says 100c is 'normal'

If I ever see 100c on any of my components I would be sitting next to it with fire extinguisher
