CPU upgrade

so I'm currently running an  AMD A8 7650k cpu (not relying on its on board graphics)  and frankly its not enough for most modern games, and I've found a bundle for everything I'd need (Mobo, cpu, ram, cooler) and i woudl like to know how much of an improvement the amd FX 8350 would be. No real improvement TBH, in fact it's more of either a side or downgrade because you won't see enough difference to be worth it. 

I don't know what you ultimate plans are, budget or anything else but a good AM4 with a Ryzen 5 (3600/3600x) would be miles ahead of either setup - And you woudn't even have to break the bank to do it.

Even something based on a 2600/2600x would be way better.

Yeah it is hardly any improvement at all. Go for any Ryzen 7 or any Haswell or later i7

Tbh, even if you go Ryzen 3 1200, it would work better than the FX-8350.

I dont know what you're using for dedicated graphics, but something like a ryzen 5 2400g or 3400g would be a huge upgrade for cheap.

Yeah, AMD chips from the pre-ryzen era are hot garbage.  If you want a cheep upgrade you can go for an $85 R5 1600 AF which is basically a R5 2600 but for much less. Or if you have a bit more budget get an R5 3600.
