Home nas under 300 euros

I decided to buy a nas to keep my files safe but the more I search the more confusing I get. I want a nas for backup and eventually a plex server. At the moment I have about 2tb of date so I was thinking 2 hdd of 4tb in raid 1. Of the different options on the market I'm between qnap and synology, which you recommend. my budget is 300 euros max (without hdd) but if not take advantage of such an expensive I don't need to spend so much. which i choose?

when you wanna use Plex do you want to use hardware transcoding or do you just want to play the files exactly as they are?

 

If you want hardware transcoding you need to get a model that has a chip for it built in like at minimum the 218+ from Synology wich starts at a little over 300€ at the moment.

the cheapest qnap system with a chip for this is the TS-253Be which starts at 360€

i a little noob, i probably only gonna use plex in my house. do i need transcoding? or just need if i use plex outside of my house?
