So i went and bought i7-9700k and installed it. Problem is that my PC crashes at windows loading after few seconds. So is the chipset faulty or do i need to update bios, because motherboard is supposed to support the CPU and it did recognize it in bios?

note i re-installed my older i5-8600k and it works fine, tho now my PC gliches out when ever i exit game and i have to restart the PC and heats go way up when booting

Update the BIOS, then clear the CMOS.

See if that fixes the issue you're having currently, if so, try the 9700k again.

BTW, what is the motherboard brand & model ?

I would return the 9700K if possible, because it was hardly an upgrade from the 8600K anyways...why did you upgrade to it? It doesn't even hold a major advantage over your old CPU for gaming.

otherwise, ya update your bios and stuff, but it shouldn't post at all if an incorrect bios is on the motherboard.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

yea you're right, i'm probably going to return the CPU. When gaming i thought it was my CPU bottlenecking but it was actually my monitor, as i have 1080ti as GPU and i formerly played at 1080p and now at 1440p

You CPU is going to determine your max fps, you can just run your GPU at 480p/720p to see where the CPU maxes out. It's more important for 144hz/240hz gaming.

and ya your GPU determines what resolution or quality settings you can run

the 8600K should be able to do over 100fps in the average AAA game, some game engines are just hard to run fast on anything, or have soft limits like GTAV.
