Recommended budget PCIe WiFi card?

Fabrizzioth

Hey there! I'm going to my folks' place for a couple months and I'm <obviously> taking my desktop PC with me. Thing is, I'll naturally want to do some gaming on it, and I don't really want to get 15m of ethernet cable just for the time being (seems like a waste tbh), so I thought I could get myself a WiFi PCIe adapter, but I'm looking at so many models and new trademarks I'm not familiar with that I'm not sure how to pick my choice (and avoid getting bamboozled in the proccess). That brings me here, looking for any word of advice on which I should choose.

I'm also upgrading my GPU (SoonTM), so I got a kinda low budget, $20-30 at most.

I would really appreciate any advice on what to get or how to choose the right choice. Thanks! :D

PD: This is my first post, so I would like to apologize in advance if it's misplaced or something.

What wireless standards do you need it to support? 5.0GHz? 802.11ac? 802.11ax?

Just 2.4GHz, 802.11b/g/n?

I know of a cheap NIC but it doesn't support all the newer/faster networking standards.

As for now I would only use basic features, 2.4 GHz and 802.11 b/n. As I'm not planning to use WiFi to a higher extent, I just need to have an stable connection and not so low speeds.

The ASUS PCE-N15. Costs $20~30 depending on where you buy it. All of it's specs are on it's product page. It's not new tech. Been around for years but while I had one it was rock solid. Watched a lot of YouTube, played some mild online games, it got the job done. Never cut out on me. Sat about 25ft away from the router with a couple walls in the way. Still had a good signal.

Nice, basic, wireless NIC IMO.

Thanks! I'll check them up, good to have at least a couple starting points.

(More suggestions would be welcomed as well though).

I have a TP-Link AC1300, can confirm decent budget card: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Archer-T6E-Wireless-Technology/dp/B016K0896K

Used to get a connect rate about 500Mbps through the wall with it. Not nearly as good as my Asus PCE-AC88, but good for a third of the price.
