Idle temperatures on my 3600 are usually between 35ºC - 45ºC, which I guess it's fine. What troubles me is that, during Blender renders, it spikes to around 85ºC, sometimes even 90ºC. I'm not an advanced user but these figures seem too high to me. Are you guys getting similar temperatures while doing CPU intensive tasks? If not, what could be the problem and solution to it?

Oh alright, thanks.

What about long term? Should I bother getting a better cooler than the stock or these temperatures won't damage it?

Anything lower than 95° C generally considered safe for long term usage provided you have safe voltages too. And as you can see you have throttle temperature set to 95° C exactly, you wouldn't exceed it even without any cooler whatsoever, it'll just throttle down heavily.

If you render a lot I would get a better cooler.

Personally I feel the wraith stealth is insufficient.

It's really barely any better than Intel stock cooler these days.

Spend $25-50 on any air cooler and it will be vastly superior. And quieter.

Thanks for the advice. It's just a hobby so I guess I'll save the money to get a better graphics card. I know that this is not the proper subforum, but, with a 300$ budget which GPU should I pair the 3600 with? I'm thinking 1660Ti but I'm not sure if I should drop an extra 50 or so for the 2060.

Now I don't know about that seller, but Amazon frequently has sales for this card for $299.

Also a $20 cooler like this one will make your life better:

With a new cooler would I get like 10ºC less or so? There's an amazon listing for the 5700 XT for 365. Worth it over non XT at 300 and 2060 at 350?

1. Yeah, very likely and possibly more. The stealth is really pretty weak.

2. See for yourself:

https://www.techspot.com/amp/review/1870-amd-radeon-rx-5700/

In this test, the 5700 was 1% faster than the 2060 super, and the 5700xt was only 2% slower than the 2070 super.

As for that $350 listing, I don't see it. What specific card? I would skip the reference designs.

I have the RAWII and while it's not the best, it's $100 cheaper than the best and custom fan curve + undervolt fixes it.

Alright thank you very much for your help!

Oops I didn't see the rest of the reply. The listing is not there because I'm from Spain haha. I was converting prices thinking that you guys wouldn't want to be talking in euros. Everything is about x1.1 more expensive here, even after the currency exchange rate. To buy pc hardware here you have to compare listings from amazon.es and pccomponentes.com, and in the later is where the 5700XT for about 365 USD was, which is 400€. Sorry for the confusion though

Not at all, no need to be sorry.

In US, $365 for a 5700xt is good, depending on the specific model.

My RAWII was $369, and compared with the best version the nitro+, which is $465, I don't feel the price difference is worth it because that much more could almost get you into a higher tier card like a 2070 super which is slightly faster but also has RTX and NVENC.

The discounted model is the PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6. Yours may have to be imported or something because it costs over 500€ here lol

Power color makes great cards.  It's probably better than mine.

But is it the reference model?
