Graphics card overheating

I just got a new monitor that can do 144hz and is 2k. Games like minecraft work fine but as soon as I turn on fortnite the temperature skyrockets to like 70 degrees in under 15 seconds. Idk what to do so any help would be appreciated

what gpu. have you oc'd it have you applied a custom fan profile etc etc...

Gtx 1070 founders edition, no custom fans, havent overclocked it

What kind of case, how old is it, what’s the airflow situation, etc

Windows showed a notification saying that having it at 70 for a prolonged time could damage its lifespan

Case is about a year old idk how to describe the airflow situation but theres a good amount (3 intake fans) (1 output)

This might be kind of a dumbass question but why would windows say that it'll get damaged? Maybe to prevent lawsuits?

no idea, but 99% of gpus will run over 70C during gaming loads.

I’ve never heard of windows doing that. Is it a pop up or what? And I assure you 70C won’t damage it. Max safe temp for my 2080 super is I believe 88C. Maybe 83

My overclocked GTX 780 regularly ran at 70C, still works fine to this day.

@Whiro I checked my notifications again and it turns out it was this temperature monitoring software called "CAM" that was giving the notifications about the temp. I honestly have no idea what to believe about the temp because of the notifications. Heres a photo of the notification

82c is slightly more worrying than 70c like you mentioned before. Just to be sure download HWinfo and check temps over there, I’m not fully trusting cam software

When you starting tick sensor only box and it’ll show your temps
