It’ll be. But just to be sure what exact brand and model of that psu you got there?

What is the reasoning behind this?

Is there a brand/model that WON'T work and you're verifying his product?

Cuz there isn't a 1660 OC that won't work with his setup, btw.

Biggest reason of that question is that some ppl using really old or garbage psu which may be a fire hazard first off all. Also not all psu have required gpu connectors which are necessary so before saying yes it’ll work 100% I prefer to ask than later person comes back and says it didn’t work cos I couldn’t connect it. Is that good enough reason to ask?

It can be but the 1660 OC uses a single 8pin connector, of which any 550w gold PSU will have.

You're right to me sure, but I you'd have to go VERY far afield to find a PSU that won't work, if possible.

PSU that won't work,

I think he exaggerated a bit, not won't work per se, but wouldn't be great and might end up in fumes sort of thing. At least that's my thinking. Also gold rating matters very little to none at all when it comes to quality of a psu.

Let’s face it, most of the people coming to this forum and asking questions have some tech knowledge but they are not enthusiast like some of us, which have bigger experience in building and troubleshooting pc’s.

So if that kind of person knows that he need to change gpu because he read it somewhere not always he will know that he need extra power connectors in order to gpu work. That’s why I always prefer to ask more details to be sure that once he insert the gpu inside it’ll work.

And yes some psu even “gold”rated can be garbage and just being a ticking bomb in the system. It happens before even to me when I was starting my journey with pc building, when I had very little knowledge about all of that. My psu blows taking with it almost all system.
