GPU cleaning

LIGTHIN

I just bought a used gtx 1080 zotac mini and its filled with alot of dust

Can I open it up and spray 99 isopropyl alcohol all over the PCB and let it dry? Is it safe

I know I can use compressed air but want to know if it's safe to spray it with alcohol

Should be.  Don’t know why that would help though.  Maybe make it worse.  You’d need to rub it.  Compressed air first, then high molarity (like 98%) alcohol and A ton of q tips maybe?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Sure, you can do that. I've done that a few times with a toothbrush to scrub down general nastyness. Obviously it's not safe to use on the thermal pads, ect. It would also likely oxidize/haze up the aluminum heatsink so I'd just recommend to spray that down in the sink with water.

TechYesCity uses what's practically brake cleaner on most of his parts, there's a bunch of specialized more plastic safe "electronics cleaners" like CRC QD cleaner. Der8auer uses the dishwasher to wash all the nastyness left over from liquid nitrogen overclocking on his extremely expensive hardware.

Hardware isn't that fragile, unless you're shorting things out with left over liquids or mechanically damaging components on the board there's a low chance you're going to damage anything.
