VM, virtual machines can be extremely ram capacity intensive and wondering if maybe you've read people talking about this, but most VR games with apps, OS etc in backround won't use more then 6-10gb.  Even if you ran a minecraft server, while playing on said servers with friends, and streamed it at same time (OBS+Chrome+Discord+etc) id be surprised if it used more then 12-13gb from what i know of those apps ram usage, and that is about the most ram instensive gaming operation i can think of, there isn't much of anything gaming wise that gets near 16gb yet even when you try to stress it.

32 will be way more then enough for a long time.

My current MSI Tomahawk B450 (MS-7C02) motherboard currently is using 16GB of Corsair Vengence (CMK16GX4M2A2400C16) but I want to maximize my RAM slots and amount of RAM I can use on my build. Any recommendations on brand/model/type of RAM to use with this motherboard? Haven’t had success finding RAM I can go above 16GB with and use more than 2 slots with. Thanks community!

What use would you be getting out of the extra ram? Generally 16gb is generally enough for most people, also by adding more ram your cpu will be less likely to reach the rated ram speeds due to extra stress on the memory controller (ryzen is very ram speed and latency sensitive).

I wouldn't recommend maxing out the slots as that will stress the memory controller pretty hard, which as I mentioned above, may affect how fast your system might be. VR isn't too ram intensive, but if you really want to upgrade, I'd suggest a 2x16gb kit. Out of curiosity, what cpu are you running?

Okay thanks for the tip! I’ll look into the 2x 16GB. It’s an AMD Ryzen 7 1700x.
