If you're referring to the tier list here and taking it as gospel, that's your mistake right there. MWE white is a horrible PSU. CX550? You mean CX550M? Because, while CX550M is better than MWE, CX550 (no M) is even better than both of those. If the MWE is the V2, then it's a better topology than V1, but it's still a 230V only PSU which means almost ALL of the parts on the primary side are down sized and the PSU will certianly shut down if your mains voltages drop below what's nominal in your area.
