Is it worth upgrading to a "K" processor?

I am currently using a i7-4790 and the only possible upgrade i can get is a i7-4790K but I was wondering whether upgrading my cpu just to be able to overclock is actually worth it. I currently have a AMD Radeon R9 280X but am considering upgrading to a GTX 1660 Ti or GTX 1660 Super. Thanks for any replies, it'll help!

I'd save that money until you can afford a platform upgrade.

Depends on how cheap you could get one. I wouldn't pay more than 100 pounds for one personally

It's not worth it for you then, your board doesn't support overclocking.

The 4790K won't give you any performance uplift, you should save to get a new Ryzen CPU if you're looking for more performance

Since you also need a different mobo, you're about $50-$75 from a upgrade the a current platform, so definitely not worth it.

Don't do it, you can't get much of a improvement and its quite a old chip now.Better (if you consider upgrading) sell current cpu and mobo and then get a new and better hardware.Amd have great value in budget cpus and you can get them with a little of addings after selling a 4790. Same thing for mobo. This is only the way I would do this.

I’d upgrade overall. 4790k getting you far in any recent games.
