So I have an old alienware x51 R2 I believe with an i7-3770, 16gb of DDR3 Ram 2x8, a GTX 1060 3GB, a Samsung 860 Evo SSD 512GB, and whatever motherboard or power supply or anything else that is in the PC. I was planning on upgrading my motherboard to allow for upgradability in the future but the problem I ran into was that I would need a new case, new ram, a new motherboard(obviously), and a new CPU at the least. I'm still not sure if I would need to get a new power supply or not or anything else. What I found was that at micro center I could get a Ryzen 7 2600X with a Wraith Prism Cooler for $129.99, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 for $59.99, an ASRock B450 PRO4 AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard for $52.96 after rebate, and a $34.99 Thermaltake ATX case with a tempered window after $30.00 rebate. I added these up and I got $277.93 without tax but I'm on a budget so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or input that would help me decide how to upgrade to allow for future modifications.

rebates don’t always happen. Iirc at one point someone noticed that only 20% of rebates are actually successfully collected.  Most people forget or don’t fill them out right.  If they do they can often take a year.  If you don’t fill them out perfectly they throw them away.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
