its the same. though, with the M.2 , you wont have the issue of wires hanging around.

HI guys,

I'm currently in the process of building/picking parts for my first ever build and when it comes to the SSD I'm not sure whether to get the m.2 form factor or normal 2.5 inch, they are both SATA III 240GB and are exactly the same in every way except for form factor and the m.2 is strangely $2 cheaper so I'm not sure which to get.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

Of course m.2 is cheaper. There's way less materials used.

This is often the case now and has been for a little while but I'm sure you remember when M.2 drives cost quite a bit more per GB than the 2.5" counterparts simply because they were often NVMe and the 2.5" drives were cheaper SATA models.

240GB, hmm.... a common size for DRAMless SSDs

 

but the form factor doesnt affect performance, just get the cheaper one
