I have an old hp with legacy that I plan to try and keep alive because my parents are too cheap to buy a new pc, so i put a i5 2500 in it because the stock was terrible (G360 2.7ghz 2 core) and 8gb of ram. The plan is to keep it alive with a 660ti and a new psu to give it decent streaming as that’s what it’s really only used for with some light gaming from my younger cousins. So should I get the 660ti or something else (can’t run GeForce 700)

Also they gave me a budget of $100 for the gpu

You can get a RX 570 for 75$ used, go with that.

If you can't get RX5xx then go for OEM GTX 660. They mostly come from alienwares and are great value as they are just a cut down GTX 660ti. You can find them priced the same as GTX 660 or even lower and if you overclock it have negligible difference in performance with the ti version.

And is there any reason you can't run newer gpus?

i second the RX580 or 570. though it might require 8 pin connectors which might not exist in an OEM pc.

Legacy bios and I’m getting a new psu since it couldn’t handle a gpu on the stock

Also I doubt it’ll run rx 570 because that way too new. (HP support is trash)
