How do you guys think someone should properly setup sli and crossfire together, based on linus's 5k comp video?

I7-6700k, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, 2 x 8GB Corsair Dominator Plantinum ram, ASUS GTX 960 STRIX, sound blaster zx, 1TB boot drive ssd, 128GB/256GB storage ssd, 1TB storage HDD, 4TB of storage (backup),Windows 10 Pro,1000w psu

Yeah... I wouldn't do it. Down the road it would cause conflicts and to many problems.

The best way is to not really try for a gaming system. You will only be able to use one of them at a time, and thus will only be able to get a maximum of 1/2 the possible experience (with the exception of Physx, which you can modify to use a dedicated card for it with an AMD primary.)

 

If you want to use both, then I would recommend at the minimum of watercooling with the likes of a 7990 and 690, as it will allow you better expandability in the future.   Other than that, install the drivers for the primary card first (be it AMD or Nvidia) and let it restart when it wants you to. On second boot (the restart), go into the control panel and activate SLI or CFx. Then go and install the other driver, and perform the same operation (restart then activate SLI/CFx).

It is not going to be that great of an experience. You would be better off with th elikes of a single 780ti and a single 290x in most cases, should you need both.
