Hi,

Just curious, is there a way to increase the power usage of the GPU further? I already set the Power Limit to +50%. Any other option where I can increase the power draw? Interesting enough, if I set the Power Limit to 0%, it consume about 290W. I wonder what does it mean by Power Limit.

My GPU is Gigabyte RX Vega 64 OC Gaming 8GB.

Any info will be appreciated.

Hope you're really good with soldering...

The power limit is there to keep the GPUs power usage in check. 0% basically means the GPU operates within the limits set by the manufacturer. +50% is essentially an overclock and allows the GPU to draw up to 50% more power. That doesn't mean it can or will draw as much.

There are other limitations, e.g. how much power your PSU can supply and how good your cooling solution is. When your GPU draws more power it'll also run hotter and at some point you'll run into thermal limitations.

Spoiler

That's not how it works with Vega,

With Vega it's just a registry entry in Windows:

Ah did not know about the Vega part. Thanks for clarifying. :)

I see.

I don't think my power is an issue, because my PSU rated power is 750W, and should have ample of power to spare.

Thermal... Maybe, but it stays constant at 65c. I set the fan to run at 100% when it reached 60c, although GPU-Z reported the fan run at 83%.

The overall power of your PSU is only part of the equation. The PCIe slot it rated for 75w, a 6-pin power cable for 75w and an 8-pin for 150w. It is possible to exceed that, if the rest of the system plays along (e.g. VRMs might also need better cooling). On top of that, your PSU also has limits on how much of its power it can supply on individual rails.

Take a look at this image for example:

This PSU can deliver up to 550w in total, but the 3.3V and 5V rails can only do 110W and there's also limits on how much amps you can pull.
