Sound dosent work ubuntu 18 and 19

Go to solution Solved by Nineballo,
alsa --forcereload

alsamixer

Crank headphone slider to 100% (muted or not makes no difference)

and run this to save

alsactl --save

Then set this command to run on startup to apply previous settings

alsactl restore

?

Basically sound from the back panel dosnt work, not sure why. This issue has persisted in every Ubuntu version ive tested on this pc from 18-19.

Currently I'm on 19.(newest) so if anyone knows a specific fix for that it would be appreciated, as this is the only thing stopping me from just moving to Ubuntu.

My motherboard is the z370 gaming 7 the rest of the specs are in the footer thing if needed.

it uses a ESS SABRE 9018 DAC and according to alsa a Realtek ALC1220 Chip

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time ahead of time!

What have you tried to make it work? It's possible that output is muted in Pulseaudio.

Its not muted, and in fact it even recognizes its plugged in but it just stays silent if I try to output to it, only the front panel works for some reason.

Yeah I'm not exactly sure what's going on. If I were you, I'd ask on /r/linux4noobs.

What does the "playback" tab look like (with some audio being played)?
