Hey guys, So my computer sometimes randomly shuts off, and fans go full blast. When I turn back on, the temps for all components are at regular temperatures, which I check using speedfan, because I assumed maybe something was overheating. Then I read somewhere that my PSU might be failing or something, did a stress test, and failed instantly, maybe just a coincidence because I've done it since, and it was fine.

My PC Specs:

CPU: I5 8400

GPU GTX 1060 6gb

RAM: 16gb

Motherboard: B360 Aorus GAMING 3 WIFI

PSU: Corsair CX450

What do you recommend I do?

sometimes when youre in the bios fans can go on all, and it also happens when you flash your bios as well, so it probably be a state its in i would recommend going through the trouble shooting steps in the forum

but i would also say remove the gpu and any case fans and extra power consuming components and run a stress test to see if you get the same results ( i am thinking the bronze rated power supply is struggling at those high power draw loads)

PC: Alienware 15 R3  Cpu: 7700hq  GPu : 1070 OC   Display: 1080p IPS Gsync panel 60hz  Storage: 970 evo 250 gb / 970 evo plus 500gb

Audio: Sennheiser HD 6xx  DAC: Schiit Modi 3E Amp: Schiit Magni Heresy

this sounds like a problem i had.

i found out it was corrupted ssd's in my case.

depending on what the price of repairs is in your area try to let them have a crack at it (preferably the place you bought the pc from)

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

I just went though very similar issues with my own PC...and with one i'd built for sale. The problems were caused by PSU issues...mine had a Gold rated 850 watt PSU which I'd had since new [about 14 months old] switched it to an reliable 750 watt Silver rated Xigmatek that I knew to be A1 and...problem gone! I still do not know why, but I kept changing out 1 item at a time [ram, SSD, NVMe M.2, video card] then it hit me! PSU? Swapped it out for the known good unit and end of problems.

The other was an i7 4770 system I'd built, had the CPU delidded and Cryonauted which fixed its' hot running issues, then passed Aida, Heaven and 3DMark Sky Diver benchmarks, and all good. But the video card was 'upgraded' from a GTX 760 to a 780 which caused just random shutdowns with no video output. Then the need to hard start the PC to get it going...because I'd just had issues with my own PSU, that prompted me to look there for the troubleshooting, and switching out the Megapower 550 watt unit for a Coolermaster 650 watt 80 rated unit, fixed the issue. The required power rating for the 780 was just too much for the Megapower to deliver correctly; causing it to crash even before a game was able to fully load...but all fixed now.

So if you get te chance; make sure you're running a PSU that functions correctly...
