my windows 7 computer's clock keeps counting minutes, however it does not carry over hours

for example, if the clock shows 6:43, in 20 minutes, it will show 6:03

this is very confusing as it throws off message times and keeps me up too late, any help would be great

Check to see if the clock in the BIOS is correct.  If not, set it then set the time in Windows.  If the clock continues to show the wrong time, recheck the time in the BIOS.  If the BIOS is wrong again, then you probably have a dead battery in your motherboard.
