I would recommend getting RealTemp if you have an Intel CPU and CoreTemp if you are using AMD. These will show you the CPU temperature. For fan speeds you can use SpeedFan. For overclocking the GPU I recommend MSi Afterburner.

Some other usefull utilities would be CPU-Z and GPU-Z

You can get the Trixx utility. You could also get MSI Afterburner.

Or get HWMonitor. Gives all the data. And instal Rainmeter, so it will look badass

I would recommend updating to the latest stable driver from AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64

You always need drivers for your hardware..

This is the link to AMD's graphics driver. You can use either 13.12 or 14.1 beta, depending on your preference.. (generally I go with the latest beta driver)

Edit:

Aaaaaaaaand I get ninja'd by Volbet..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

MSI Afterburner and HWMonitor are great programs for monitoring cpu and gpu temps as well as fan speeds and cpu voltages (HWMonitor).
