Hey, I didn't know where to post this, maybe I can still get the help I want. I am encoding a video and my temps are pretty high, and saw on other forums that my CPU temps should be fine. Other videos have been encoded before, and I did not check the temps until this session. Only recently did I find out what MOS meant, but, I have not found anything on the safe temps for it. I have an MSI X470 Gaming Plus motherboard with a AMD Ryzen R7 2700X CPU my cooling method is a Corsair H100i V2 water cooler. Any info on temps and safe areas for the temps plus tips on the future would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you in advance for helping me.1830119869_DesktopScreenshot.thumb.png.31f198668434cd5bc01e3e21a68b2609.png

What do you have running that is causing you to have your CPU at 100% usage? That is likely the cause as its causing the mosfets and VRM to heat up as a result of the load.

Handbrake. I am encoding a video.

You could try to improve airflow in your case and/or add a fan for the VRMs specifically to keep them cooler. A quick Google tells me the safe temp is 175°C, but I'm not sure how reliable that is. Plus, even if its safe for the VRMs, it might not be for the components around them.

@Eigenvektor Thank you, I will hope that 100c is ok. As I stated, other videos have been encoded already, and I have not checked the temps before. I hope that, in the picture I posted in my topic, the spot where the MOS is, is safely away from my other components. Airflow has been, in my opinion, optimized. Gaming temps are pretty low, rarely goes past 57c for my CPU.

Just wanted to share some more info, if it helps me with my post. Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 Case with 3 Corsair ML120 front mounted case fans as intake and 2 Corsair ML120 fans on my H100i V2 radiator mounted to the top of case as an exhaust and the case stock fan as a rear exhaust. Ambient temperature is 75f/23c I am mainly wanting temperature info on the MOS, since it shows 100c. Any other help or tips is still appreciated and I am grateful for any response.

Rig a fan to blow a little air over the board and it'll be just fine, 102C is a little high, what's the ambient room temp?

Ambient room temp is 75f or 23c. Do you happen to know if there is any fan for that reason? I wouldn't mind using my Pump_Fan header to point an extra little fan at the MOS. Even if there are none known, I got a fan to use for your suggestion.

I'm having a hard time finding any clear photos of the VRM cooler but it looks like you could screw a small fan into one end of it or into the middle of it and blow even a little air through it there would be a large drop in temps of the covered components which would greatly extend their life.

Hey, that's actually a very clever way to mount a fan and it blows air across the whole board to cool everything else around the CPU socket too. I dig it!

Oh my! I like it too lol. I might head over to the store and get some L brackets. Thank you for your response.

Be sure to hit like and subscri...wait no. Be sure to head on over to the merch stor....wait no.

Be sure to post up the results of the fan on your temps, you can use something like prime95 small torture test for before and after temps if you don't have a video that needs handbrake-ing.

I don't mind posting those temp readings, but, give me a few days. Snow has finally come to Anchorage, AK. Which is where I am.

For those of you who were interested in the follow up, here is some pictures. The first picture is no fan attached to the rear exhaust fan with L brackets, idle for 15 minutes. The second picture is 15 minutes with the fan attached to the rear exhaust fan, still idle. The last picture is me encoding a video with the new attachment setup. Idle meaning, the computer is just... on.

EDIT : Corsair ML140 fan is attached to the rear fan, I forgot to add that detail.
