My PC doesn't have a Bluetooth card or Bluetooth on the motherboard but I bought a small dongle which does Bluetooth.

My question is, if I pair a PS4 or Xbox controller to the dongle, will I be able to hear sound through the 3.5mm on the controller?

I don't have speakers on my setup and wanted to play games from my bed.

When I paired my PS4 controller via Bluetooth, I was able to use it as a controller & audio output device. Not sure about Xbox controllers.

Did you also use a Bluetooth dongle?

Yes, my apologies for not stating this originally. Edited my post.

One more question, when you play games on the pc with the headset plugged into the PS4 controller, is there any audio delay? And does windows automatically set the PS4 controller as the audio input and output?

  1. Bluetooth inherently will always have an audio delay compared to directly wiring into the PC audio outputs; however, this delay can vary with the game or software being used, and the quality of Bluetooth chipset you have.
  2. Windows automatically fucks with your audio outputs whenever it jolly well feels like it - for example, even though I've explicitly disabled ALL GPU audio output over HDMI + Displayport, Windows still insists on setting them as defaults every time a drive update installs. So yeah, it's best to make sure you choose the default, and check it often.

If you have an Xbox 1 Controller, you can use the USB port on the top of the controller and you don't need any bluetooth devices. Also, audio is pushed through the controller into a headset just fine. I would assume microphone would be as well, but I do not have a microphone to confirm.

Well do you get any audio delay that ruins your game?

Nope, because I don't play shooters this way - I use a PS4 controller for racing games like The Crew 2 or Rocket League.

Yea, I just wanted to play GTA5 and Forza with the controller and didn't want any game ruining audio delay.
