What are "Bitcoin mining machines"?

I've seen new motherboards coming out with the option for up to 8 graphics cards; I've tried on looking up for it on Google but all I see are news and news of what's coming out and not what "Bitcoin mining" is.

2020:AMD Ryzen 3900X | XFX 5700XT | 2TB m.2 | 32GBDDR4 @ 3200MHz | Corsair CX750M | ASUS X570 Strix | NZXT H100

2013:AMD FX-8350 @ 4.62GHz ~ 5.2GHz | XFX R9 290X 2x Crossfire | (x4) 2TB HDDs in RAID1 | 16GBDDR3 @ 1866MHz | GS800 | NZXT 810

Your hardware runs code to solve mathematical equations. For every equation, you get a coin, which you trade for real currency.

Yeah, I see very often threads about mining too here, but I have no idea what is it.

Ohhh... So it's cheaper spending on graphics cards rather than spending on memory ram and or cpu in order to process that data. So I perceive, that's why these new motherboards contain such amount of options for GPU's. Now, what's the app being used for this? Their website or is there a particular program/app?

I'm not too certain which application. But, it does run up your power bill. Make sure the cost of your power bill doesn't outweigh the amount of money you get from mining

I'm not into it, I just want to be acknowledge of this "bitcoin mining" theme. People been running dual 1500W PSU's for hours... imagine..

So with my computer I can earn coins from solving mathematical things, which then I can trade it for real money, right? So, it's like a earn money for free, just the job does your PC instead of you, right?

Runs up the power bill a ton!

Yeah but you can't really run any other programs at the same time and it's somewhat slow with some hardware.

Is it CPU intensive or GPU or both? Do you know? And for example, if I use my current PC for it let's say for 6 hours, approximately how much coins it can earn?

You see, I haven't ever really mined. I don't really know much about it. It really depends on what hardware you have. I recommend asking @tmcclelland455 he knows more than I do

The thing is, nVIDIA GPUs aren't nearly as good as AMD's for mining. Unless you have free power, you wouldn't make much money, if any at all, with the card you have in your signature.

If you go to this site: https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison you can find the mining speed of other people who have the same card as you. It's measured in KH/s, or thousands of hashes per second, which are the mathematical calculations @NameOfNoInterest was talking about.

By the way, I find that mining at a lesser intensity (less strain on GPU) with my R9 270 still allows me to do everyday tasks while mining, including watching YouTube videos or playing Black Ops 2, but I don't know how well that will work with your card. I'm no expert either.

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

Also, if anyone has their mind corrupted by an anthropomorphic black latex bat, please let me know. I would like to join you.
