So I have a i5-9400f.

I stupidly purchased a b365m pro4 without knowing the bios needed an update before being able to even post with my cpu. I'm sending it back for a new motherboard.

 

 

It looks like this motherboard ( https://asrock.com/MB/Intel/Z390%20Phantom%20Gaming%204S/index.asp#CPU ) will work out the box without requiring a bios update to post.

Can anyone confirm this?

 

also more motherboard recommendations that will work straight OUT THE BOX with an i5-9400f would be great.

You're fine, but you're overspending on a motherboard for a cheap processor like that
