Hey everyone,

I have been doing as much research as I can build my first PC. I'm adding a link to PCPartpicker to show my selected parts. I am asking assistance in understanding the note that the website is giving in regards to a 4 pin connector. Any advice or guidance will be much appreciated.

not having 4pin plug is not a problem unless you do extreme overclocking or using HEDT platform like Threadripper or Skylake-X (which you should have budget for a PSU with 2 8pin power connectors for CPU power instead).

but your list itself is stuffed with problems (i.e. outdated parts) for something you will buy soon. More problems if it's a gaming rig (2nd gen doesnt play well with high frame rates, games would prefer faster GPU than an 8 core CPU)

Hello,

This would be better :

Otherwise the 4pin connector is in addition of the 8pin for better voltage delivery etc. Not necessary to have it populated to work though.

The 8-pin is necessary for the CPU to operate. This motherboard included an extra 4-pin to assist in high overclocking. The board should be able to run with just the 8-pin power connector. If you would like to to high end overclocking, you would want to find a power supply with an additional 4-pin power connector.

nah, not with even the 3950X. You'll fail to cool the CPU way before the 8pin needs extra help

The Tomahawk is fine for a 2700x, for more though you can have the x570 Aorus Elite or Asus TUF. They are better than the b450 and as good as the x470 you chose for less.

Since you are streaming and gaming the b450 is enough and you'll have a better GPU with the build I did.

if you already have the 2700x for cheap, stick to it and maybe wait for the ryzen 4000 series next year before upgrading. also, if you want to save some money, the tomahawk board is a good cheaper alternative
