Hi all,

Im going to build a PC for a friend and I was looking at the Ryzen 3 3200G. Its just a home office computer, nothing fancy. I have been out of the loop for a little while and i've lost track of what the chipset compatability is with this gen of Ryzen processors, what do I want?

I know that you can do most chipsets but they require a BIOS update so I want to know wich chipsets wouldnt as I dont have a surrogate CPU to do the update with.

Thanks! :)

Manny retailers offer updating the BIOS for you for like 10$. If you have a store nearby and ask politely they might even do that for free.

So dont worry about that.

Anyway Idd recommend you to get a B450 MOBO. Nothing fancy but solid.

In my opinion the best at current is the MIS B450 Tomahawk max. Can be had for 100bucks

The max version should also be compatible out of the box.

the non max version might not (but they are same price)

Thanks for the heads up, just looked it up and they will flash the BIOS for £12. I assume that the only chipset with native support for the Ryzen 3000 serires is the x570?

Native yes, but the MAX should come with a BIOS already supporting 3rd gen Ryzen. See here https://www.msi.com//Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX#support-cpu

And getting x570 makes zero sense for what you're planing to do!
