Hi all,

I am looking for a 550W PSU for my gaming/productivity desktop. When I refer to the PSU tier list, I am abit confused on corsair CX 2017 and CXM2017. What is the difference?

Currently I shortlisted the follow

Coolermaster MWE bronze 550

Corsair CX550m

Silverstone ET650-G

Any comments from the list above? I am from malaysia, therefore the brand that I have for selection is quite limited.

For people interested in my setup

i7-2700k

Nvidia 1660

2 SSD and 2 HDD

Thanks guys.

The dfifference is that one of them isn't modular and one of them is semi-modular (probably CXM). That Silverstone PSU seems pretty decent as far as I can see. I'd use the psu tier list I linked to choose a good PSU, those guys know way better what they're talking about than me.

if you want modular get CXm want to be a bit more cheaper and quite better take CX

To go a little further, the CXM is semi-modular with detachable SATA, Molex, and PCIe cables, and perminantly fixed EPS and 24pin connections.  CX has all permanent connections.

actually... on that side it might be better, but internally the cx is better than the cxm

as the cxm is a double forward, while the CX is as i recall a half bridge. for that reason i generally say CX>CXm

Correct.  CX uses an LLC resonant topology while CX-M uses double forward.

LLC being much better than double forward.

Both CX and CX-M use DC to DC for the +3.3V and +5V.

@xh90 Do you have BitFenix Formula as an option? Even the 450w would perfectly suffice btw.

Nope.

In the end I went for CX650. Just because it was the cheapest CX model available.

Thanks guys
