Audigy 2 Value SB0400 J1 Connector

Eric Kazer

Hi, does anyone know the pinout and the purpose of the J1 connector on a Creative Audigy 2 Value Sound card? I have a Retro XP machine that I built in a Dell Dimension 2400 case. I am wondering if I can use that connector for the headphone jack on the Dell case. The J1 connector is a 10 pin connector on the sound card.

For Audigy 2 :
1 - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
7 - key pin (shouldn't be there)
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +12VDC when mic is plugged in
10 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

Pin 1 is furthest from the bracket.

A-GND will definitely help on pin 1. Might match the Dell Dimension 2400's Audio connector. Also Pic of Dll Board. They look the same physically. Card and original bard side by side. Suggests that the Dell headphone might plug in to the card directly. Can not find support for the card anywhere. Generation is too old. Building a sleeper XP machine is a pain in some ways. Mobo I am using is a GS-41C-GS Rev 2.0. Has normal connector on it. The normal HD audio connector is on the motherboard in between the GPU and the rear IO audio jacks. That's why I want to us the sound card. Plus SPDIF on card for audio receiver. Don't know if Dell's cable is long enough.

If I am not going to use the sound card, than I need a HD Audio to a 10 pin connector for audio.
