I currently have C16 3200Mhz 4x16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM.

 

I noticed there is C17 3600Mhz 4x16GB GSkill TridentZ RAM for a good price.

 

Worth upgrading? (I might do Ryzen in the future so it helps)

 

I can lower Corsair RAM to C14 by juust changing it in BIOS and it's stable, so I was hoping 3600Mhz one could potentially do it too?

No. Not really worth it for Intel stuff. Ryzen maybe if you were starting from scratch, but it seems you dont care about money at all in your builds based on your description so :P

again its really not going to make a significant difference at all on the intel platform. Ryzen 3000 series is very Ram speed dependent to a point (around 3600 to 3800 mhz) with Infinity fabric clocks around 1800-1900. Intel just doesnt have that benefit, the Lower timings would be the biggest improvement over speeds. There is no major gains for intel sadly.

(I would also want to upgrade in case I move to Ryzen btw)

Plenty of it, Look up Ram comparison vids on Gamers Nexus, and many various reputable PC Tech reviews, Or just look at Ram comparison testing articles. Most Ram speed comparisons will show beyond 3200 mhz on Intel there is very little performance gain, it mainly comes down to timings.

I just did and I noticed lower ram timings help a lot. So something is not adding up here.

What exactly is not adding up? Ram timings and Ram speed are VERY different things.

Unless you do not care about the money at all, it’s not worth buying another whole new kit to get 400mhz more out of it.

I highly doubt any 3600mhz kit on the market will hit CL14, I think the ideal result for that is CL15/16.


I would wait regardless until the processor upgrade you’re buying is out. See if there’s a notable performance change on that platform, because as for Intel right now ram speed usefulness kinda flops off past 3000mhz, the only reason ryzen does so well with 3600mhz is because of their infinity fabric thing.

Update:

 

I bought some Patriot binned Samsung B-Die 4 x 8GB DDR4 4400Mhz 19-19-19-39 RAM. Apparently it's ultra good and it clears very cheap at just £250 for all 4 DIMMS.

 

It also OCs like a beast apparently.
