hi, i played some witcher 3 on my new cpu and got 68C with 40-45% or lower usage (max fps 60 so not using it near 100%). its normally quite hot here but yesterday when i was playing the temps were quite cool, probably 20C. when i was putting on heat sink i screwed up and had to pull it out, so i needed to remove the thermal paste and put on new ones (arctic ceramique 2), i put in using the line method perpendicular to the text on the cpu lid. is this a normal temperature for such low usage? my previous i5 2500k would be probably 67C at this ambient, but with 90-100% usage. at 40-50% usage it would be ~56C, much lower than 68C. although the 2600 fan was much quieter than my 2500k (both are stock fans), but 2500k is supposed to have much higher power usage? my firestrike score are here https://i.imgur.com/llFtpx6.png, but the physics tests are no where near long enough for cpu to reach equilibrium temperature for thermal throttling to occur.

is everything normal? should i reapply thermal paste? the thermal paste was bought around 2 years ago and put in fridge ever since, is it a problem? should i buy new ones? thanks!!!

if its this hot at such low usage, its gonna be 110C at 95+% usage. i dont have anything to run it at 95+% for long period of time so cant prove my conjecture, and probably dont wish to... is my thermal paste too old? (2 years in fridge, arctic ceramique 2)

If you can upgrade to a better cooler. There are some cheap and reliable ones out there like the Coolermaster Hyper 212. I use one on my own Ryzen 1600.
