What is the problem?

I am curious about this problem. My younger brother gifted me a hard disk. He doesn't know well about computer that's why he gave me 250 gigs hdd. But when i tried it, it was showing some problems but the hard disk was new . I am curious about what is wrong with the hard disk so that in future I may overcome this problem. In my last 4 years of pc building and testing i haven't seen this problem with a newly bought hard disk.

This HDD is not new. Its been powered on more than 4000 times as you can see on the right. Also it has reallocated sectors meaning some sectors on this drive are already bad. I wouldn't use it for any sensitive or important data if I planned on putting this in any system. While it doesn't mean 100% the drive will fail soon, errors like this should be kept in mind because losing your data is not one of the best things in life.

Your brother got scammed. Lemme guess: he bought the disk on eBay, Amazon or Aliexpress?
