Looking for new laptop

I currently have a dual core Lenovo thinkpad from 5 years ago. I was looking into getting a new laptop. I am looking for one with a touchscreen and with good battery life with at least a quad-core chip. I don't game on my laptop so graphics doesn't matter. Also I am going into computer science in university so something that would be good for that would also be helpful. I am not sure what laptop I should get. I have looked at the LG gram and the Dell XPS 15 but not sure which would be better. Any tips for looking for one or recommendations? Would prefer to not go above $1500 CAD max i can do is $2000 CAD
