m.2 drive not showing up?

When I disconnect my 1tb hdd d: drive from my Dell Inspiron 7567 laptop it's m2 c; drive no longer shows up. Laptop won't boot windows and  the drive doesn't show up in windows installer. Was hoping to do a clean install to a new m.2 drive but... wtf help me understand what is going on here please

1) Update the BIOS (copy the bios to a USB FAT32 drive and insert it into the computer, press F12 to get the boot menu and select flash upgrade)

2) If you are installing Windows 10, make sure it's set to UEFI, Legacy CSM turned off, and M2 configuration is set to RAID.

 

To make sure Windows 10 (depending on what build of USB drive you have) can actually see the M2 drive, you will need the "F6 Intel RST driver" on a USB drive and press F6 during setup to install the RST driver.

 

OR. 

 

Switch to AHCI mode. Install Windows. Once you get windows to boot, install the RST driver, follow MBR2GPT guides to put it back into RAID/RST mode. If you fail to switch it to RST, the M2 drive will be stuck at SATA speeds even if it's a PCIe NVMe drive.

Updated bios no problem, wasn't able to install Win10 in RAID (windows installer wouldn't run) so tried AHCI and my new M2 drive XPG Gammix S11 Pro 525gb) still wouldn't let me install windows without the 1tb hdd plugged in. So installed that way and will try mbr2gpt steps later tonight.
