Hello everyone,

I am new on this forum and, as I read a few of your replys in this topic, thought you could also help me with choosing parts for my build.

These are the specs i chose:

 https://pcpartpicker.com/user/cofi/saved/#view=XzKrVn

If you're unable to open the link here are the specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

Cooler: be quiet Dark rock pro 4

MOBO: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16 gb (2 x 8 gb)

Storage: Samsung EVO 970 500 gb M.2

GPU: Asus ROG Strix 1080 8 gb

Case: NZXT H500

PSU: Corsair RMx 750 W 80+ Gold Fully modular

So, this PC would be mostly used for gaming, video and/or picture editing... I had a budget in mind of about US$1600

+- a few hundred dollars.

I would like to know your opinions on this PC, is there a bottleneck, should I upgrade something, downgrade something... If you have any questions feel free to ask. I will try to reply as fast as I can.

Have a nice rest of your day!

The cooler is a bit overkill but will do the job.

The mobo is bad, take any B450 MSI MAX instead of this one or get Aorus Elite/Asus Prime P instead if you want x570.

This SSD is a bit overpriced there are lot of other that are cheaper.

Get the 550w RMx instead :)

Thank you for your feedback!

Well I was firstly thinking to get a B450 but the site said i might need to do a flashback or something, I can't remember exactly. Could you maybe link a the motherboard you're talking about.

What SSD exactly, could be really helpful ?

Thank you!

You're welcome :)

Ok so i just watched and read some things about these motherboards, and, I  chose the b450 tomahawk max. But then this came up at the bottom of the page:

  • Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
  • Note:The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled.

Do you maybe know why this came up?

Oh and you mentioned the SSD part, what are some better alternatives you may know?

Yes it's because some B450 are not Zen 2 ready but the MAX version are so don't worry :)

The M.2 is something you'll see in most motherboard but you'll still have 4 SATA available if you buy some HDD/SSD SATA later.

I added another SSD instead in the pcp list https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9nhKHx/intel-660p-series-1tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-ssdpeknw010t8x1 it's almost the same price for double the storage :P @Herman Mcpootis chose another one which is pricier than the one I added but is a good one too.

Ok, to be honest, I am getting kinda lost ? . So, I should choose the one you listed? What are some advantages that SSD has that the Samsung one doesen't?

You won't notice the speed difference, it's the same price for double the storage and they both have a 5 years warranty.

Well, as far as my professional eye can see. That's a great value ?. Thank you soo much.

There's just one thing I want to ask you. You mentioned for the PSU part that i should get the 550 W? Why that power supply and is it modular?

It's fully modular, a really great unit (put one in a friend computer) and 550w is more than enough even to overclock :)

Yes it is and for 80$ it's a steal :o

Well then I have become a real stealer. First the PSU, motherboard and the SSD and then the frames ??

Anyways, thank you man. You are a real life (and money) saver. Originally the price of the pc was about 1700 but now it's in the 1550's range. Thank you soo much!!!

You can save even more if you go 5700xt or 2070S instead of 2080S.

Also I didn't change the ram but i'm sure you can have them for less too :P (RGB make the price higher).

Well I know that the RGB raises the price but dang does it look good. And I have also been thinking about the GPU, should i change it to a 2070 or just leave it there?

Ok a little update. I have just looked a little bit at the 2080s and found this gem

Thoughts?
