Hello everyone!

Last 2-3 weeks, I have been experiencing random shutdowns (and pc restarts). Before I updated my Windows 10 to version 1903, I had 1-2 times shutdowns but that was caused by HyperX Cloud II USB dongle. Now, I have updated to the latest version of Windows 10 (version 1903, OS build 18362.449 and I am getting almost every day 3-4 times a shutdown. I tried to google for fixes and tried the following without luck:

  • I had shutdown problems with HyperX Cloud II USB dongle, so I unplugged the USB and did not use it for a while and yet the problem still occur.
  • Change advanced power plan settings:
  1. PCI Express>Link State Power Management>Setting:Off
  2. Processor power management>Setting:Off
  3. Unchecked the "Turn on fast startup" feature
  • Updated all my hardware drivers.
  • Checking my CPU and GPU temperature by MSI Afterburner.
  1. GPU Normal idle: around 25 celcius.
  2. GPU playing CSGO: around 45 celcius.
  3. CPU Normal idle: around 30 celcius.
  4. CPU playing CSGO: around 50 celcius.
  • Disable Windows Automatic Restart. (Now it does not restart anymore)
  • I tried to fix event id: 10016 (as it appears alot in my event viewer) by following the youtube video: https://youtu.be/ervoKKVBUdU

I cannot find anything in the Event Viewer why my PC unexpectedly shutsdown...

Does anyone else have experienced this problem or know the roots of the problem?

Bad power supply is usually the culprit

No wayy, I purchased the PSU somewhat a year ago... (January, 2018). I guess I should return the PSU?

Unexpected restarts like these are usually a power-supply related problem.

If it were just a shutdown with no restart it could be the CPU reaching its temperature threshold. Have you seen any unusually high CPU temperatures?

Is there a way to check the PSU temperature? The minimum celcius temperature of the CPU is around 30 and has a maximum of around 50. (According to CPUID HWMonitor)

I don't know of any way to check power supply temperatures. However, PSU failures are usually related to other things, and not temperature.

Your CPU is also in a good temperature range, so it's probably not what's causing the issue.

What I recommend doing is: Try connecting another power supply into the system and using it for a while. If it doesn't shut down, then the problem might not be your PSU.

Worst case scenario, you should RMA your unit, as it's usually the safer option (though you'll be unable to use your PC until Corsair sends a new one)

I guess I have to purchase a new PSU as I dont have any spare PSU to replace >.<

Yours is from Corsair, right? They have a warranty program which might cover your problem. When did you buy your PSU?

Oh really? Got any link? i live in the Netherlands and purchased it on January, 2018

Then you should be able to make a warranty claim.

Read this page for information on to do so: https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031261871-Corsair-Systems-Warranty

Hope it helps!

Thank you! I am going to take a look at it!
