I7-8700k Not Holding Overclock

I'm coming here because I cannot find the answer literally anywhere online. I've been trying to overclock my 8700k to 4.8GHz. As I'm running Prime95, the processor starts out at the 4.8GHz clock, but for some reason clocks go down as low as 3.8GHz and often hold ~4.1-4.2GHz. I'm on manual voltage control set at 1.31V currently and am unsure where to go.

What are temps like

Just keeping this here as a Perfectly fine highest it got to was 75C before throttling clocks. Personally, on the same setup with an 8600K, I had that thing over 90C, and it never throttled down. I find it weird that this one does.

Assume you did regular trouble shooting. On high power mode? Are you looking at it per core and seeing any of them drop usage? What are you watching temps with?

Run HWiNFO and it will tell you why your CPU is throttling.  

 

An 8700K uses the turbo boost feature to reach maximum speed.  Make sure the long and short turbo power limits are set sky high.  If your temps are fine, throttling is often times caused by one of these limits or the IccMax current limit.  HWiNFO will tell all.
