Cleaning wipes

Can anyone recommend some good cleaning wipes for phones?

 

You can buy them in Japan but in the West not so much... Amazon has loads of screen wipes, but nothing for cleaning the body of the phone, or your keyboard/mouse etc.

Uh I've done this with any microfiber cloth and some ipa for a while, never heard of anything better out there.

Most of those cleaning wipes are base material (paper or some fiber), ~ 50-60% ethanol , some distilled water and some perfume.

 

You can get these bottles : Solimo 70% Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol First Aid Antiseptic, 16 Fluid Ounces (Pack of 12)

and some good wipes and wet the wipes with the alcohol and you get the same result.

 

tip. if you find a product you like search for "product name msds "  - msds means safety datasheet, it will list the ingredients. For example the above will show 70% ethyl alcohol (ethanol) , less than 5% acetone (which is produced naturally over time by the ethanol in bottle) and two other chemicals in trace amounts which won't harm the electronics.

 

Isopropyl alcohol also works, but maybe at lower purity. 92% and above is good as solvent, for example for removing flux after soldering components, or for cleaning boards in general, but for killing bacterias on your hands, 70-80% isopropyl alcohol is more effective. 

Isopropyl alcohol is the active ingredient in screen wipes,  usually 30-50% alcohol, rest distilled water.

Alcohol does seem to be the way to go.

 

Thebest ones I had were some Sanwa Supply ones that had a kind of lattice structure. Great for removing finger juice and general crud.

 

Maybe some basic alcohol wipes are worth a try. Very cheap and easy to get.
