Check ebay for some parts, there's plenty of buyer protection if you get something non functional, but the seller looks fine here, should be able to get an R5 2400G

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMD-Ryzen-5-2400G-3-6GHz-4-Core-8-Threads-DDR4-65W-Socket-AM4-CPUs-Processors/153456527590?hash=item23bab8c8e6:g:xCkAAOSwCyVcuNcD

For the motherboard at minimum you want an ASrock Pro 4 as it has VRM heatsinks on both VRMs.

Looks like you don't even need to go through ebay for the R5 CPU though

Gen 1's memory controller isn't the best, so 3000mhz is fine, and you can potentially overclock it anyways.

For the GPU unless you are getting that GTX 980 really cheap, an RX 470/480/570/580 should be cheaper and is still fine for 1080p gaming. Just make sure you upgrade the power supply with the graphics card, as it's likely old and not recommended to keep going with that much extra power on it.

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
