I need some tips!

I'm fairly new to computer gaming. I went out and bought a Dell G5 5587 w/ Intel i7 8750H Nvidia Geforce 1050Ti w/ 16gb of ram. It runs most games w/out a problem but newer games seem to overheat the CPU and cause my battery to drain when plugged in.

So I'm in the market to build from a pre-built computer.

I've seen that you can grab an older Dell Professional computer and add a graphics card to it and some ram and its good to go.

So I've been looking at a Dell Optiplex 9020 MT, they're fairly cheap on Ebay.
I guess my question is,

What model of Optiplex would be the best and under $200?

My plan is to buy one, attach a 1050Ti (Like my laptop) Put 16GB of ram into it and run it that way.

But I've noticed that my CPU on my laptop runs too hot and its a i7 8750H and most of the Optiplexes are i5s. What difference does it make, and can it run most modern games?

Thanks for your time!

With a 1050ti, you might want to spend 8GB of the RAM money on a better GPU or CPU instead. You might get more FPS. With the optiplex just get the one with the best CPU, or you might want to build one youself. You could use a R3 3200G and a A320 motherboard and 8GB of RAM and a cheap £30 case. Look for good local deals

Used go for at least a 3770 or better I7. Make sure you get the highest amount of ram available unit without overpaying and then add in a new psu + gpu and possibly ssd. However depending on the cost a cheap ryzen system may not be a bad idea.
