GPU suddenly overheating

Go to solution Solved by M0SIE,

I have fixed the problem for some reason not sure is my motherboard or GPU at fault when i leave my GPU sagging the temps go back to 70c

I have a ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 it was working fine about 70c at full usage,I recently placed in a GPU support holder the Cooler Master VGA holder than i realised it was jamming the last fan. After I moved the holder away all the 3 fans were spinning again but my GPU is running at  95c instead.

It's possible you dislodged some dried thermal compound. Try taking off the cooler and applying fresh thermal paste.

It's probably just dried thermal compound that seperated when you had it propped. When you leave it unpropped, it's resting where it was when it dried, and so the temps are down.
