PC Build €1000,-

Hi everyone,

I'm building a new gaming pc and I would like to ask you some pointers. ?

This PC will be used mostly for gaming. I don't really care about looks/RGBs/etc I just want the specs to be top-notch.

My budget is €1000,- and i live in the netherlands

The items that caught my eyes are these;

  • MB - MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX
  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Boxed ((I will be using the standard CPU cooler that comes with the CPU. I won't be overclocking (maybe in the future with a different block))
  • Memory - G.Skill 16 GB DDR4-3200 Kit
  • SSD - ADATA XPG Gammix S11 Pro, 512 GB
  • Graphics - MSI Radeon RX 5700 8G
  • PSU - GAMDIAS Kratos P1-750G, 750W
  • Monitor - not needed
  • PC case - Unsure which case I should get.

Performance above looks.

Currently with just these items, i'm already above €1000,-....

AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 3,6 GHz  | MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max | G.Skill DDR4 Trident-Z 2x8GB 3600MHz CL18 RGB | Intel 660p 1TBGigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT GAMING OC 8G | Corsair TX550M V2 PSU | Fractal Design Focus G Black | Windows 10 Pro X64

Change that super bad PSU by a Bitfenix Formula Gold 550w to avoid any fire or damage to your components.

A 3600 is fine too and you could get a 5700XT instead :)

Thank you for replying.
I changed the PSU to BitFenix Formula Gold 550W.
I've looked at the Radeon RX 5700 XT, sadly that's above my budget... Trying to stay below €1000,-

As for the case the Fractal Design Focus G or Coolermaster mb511 have good air flow and are good overall.

So it's a little above your budget but it's a great computer, I couldn't find the Formula Gold so I added the TXM which is not as good and maybe pricier.

Can I ask why you changed the Storage from a M.2 SSD to a 2.5 sata SSD?

It's cheaper and you won't see a lot of difference between the 2 in games or windows boot :)

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/product/6j448d/western-digital-blue-500gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-wds500g2b0b

there is this one cheaper but it has the same specs as a SATA drive.

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/product/zwL48d/intel-660p-512-gb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-ssdpeknw512g8x1

And this one have the same price for more speed compared to SATA. You should go for that one, I didn't notice it was in the list my mistakes.

I would save a little more. If you plan to game 500 GB of storage is a little on the low side ;). Also I don't know if that B450 mobo has support for ryzen 3000 out of the box. And you also need an OS. The rest of the build looks fine to me :)

And yes. PC parts are expensive in our country :)

Main PC:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | RAM:Corsair LPX 3200 mhz (16Gb)

Mobo:ASUS Strix B550-F Wifi | GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z

Case: Sharkoon Nightshark RGB| Storage: 500 GB 970 EVO Plus 1 TB WD blue 500 GB Samsung HDD

Monitor: iiyama G-Master G2470HSU-B1 165Hz

Powersupply: Be Quiet straight Power 10 500 watt

Main Laptop

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H | RAM: Team group 16 GB 2666 mhz

GPU: RTX 2060 (MXM swappable)

Monitor: 1080p 120Hz

Storage: 2x 1 TB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe (no raid)

I have Windows 10 standby and ready to go.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 has a socket AM4

And both motherboards uses a AM4

If it uses socket AM4 doesn't mean it's automatically compatible. B450 is an chipset from the last generation. (Ryzen 2000). Most older motherboards require a bios update with an in this case Ryzen 2000 cpu to work with Ryzen 3000. But manufacturers can choose to make their older chipsets ready for Ryzen 3000 out of the box. And the board @Plouffe  suggested is one of those ;)

Final question.

When selecting a M.2 SSD pcpartpicker gives me: Compatibility: Warning! These parts have potential issues or incompatibilities. See details below.

Can i just ignore this?

Estimated Wattage: 384

PSU gives me 550w

Hum I see for the motherboard but don't worry the MAX comes with the bios ready.

For the M.2 it's because the connector shares bandwitch thus you can't use some sata port (refer to the manual in that case to know which ones are "overwritten").

Keep the 550w if you plan to overclock or potential upgrades, if you don't OC and don't upgrade a 450w would be enough.
