So Im on the final steps of planning a build, and Ive been told to try and upgrade my PSU, So I want to know a little bit more info about some Companys and why people really go with like EVGA and Corsair, (Like I understand there trusted brands and there PSU's are good but theres gotta be more that that?)

So my question is, Is there a point to having an expensive PSU or can you just go with like a

Rosewill, Thermaltake, Etc.

Thanks for your feedback.

You do want to cheap out power supply because it will bite you back hard at the end. Always buy high end or ultra high end power supply. Choose any power supply from Tier A+ or Tier A list below in the power supply list and you are good to go.

There is more to a PSU than just brand and reliability. There are other things such as warranty support, output quality, ripple suppression, actual components used to make the thing.

You should always look for a high end PSU even if you're not building a high end system.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID OC/ x2 WD_BLACK NS770 2TBs/ Corsair HX1000i/ NZXT H5 Flow

You don't buy PSUs by brand, the same way you don't buy CPUs or GPUs by brand. You look at the performance, protections, noise and various gimmics. Just completely ignore the 80+ rating. A more expensive PSU from a "trusted brand" isn't always better. Just look at the EVGA G1 NEX. It's an absolutely aweful, loud, low end PSU with an 80+ Gold efficiency rating. Look at actual professional reviews, just like with any other product.
