Was wondering if anyone has had any issues with r5 3600 and there memory I have a g-skill sniper x 16gb 3600 speed kit and am having some issues anyone experiencing problems?

It depends on the motherboard too, what motherboard do you have?

You're going to have a hard time getting DDR4-3600 to run on that motherboard.

The board only *officially* supports up to DDR4-3466 via XMP.

Well I had a 3400g in it before and it ran no problem at 3600 with xmp profile on but when I upgraded to the 3600 now I'm having issues

Remember, quality of the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) *inside* the CPU plays a part, too.

That will vary from one CPU to another.

Going beyond the JEDEC rated DDR4-2666 on Ryzen involves overclocking the IMC.

I'm admittedly new to the forum, I should probably explain that my issue Is with my memory in dual channel not booting but will run fine with a single module. And was potentially uncertain if there could have been a compatibility issue with zen 2 chips.

What CPU cooler are you using? Could it be too tight?

If you tight the CPU cooler FAR TOO MUCH, to where it is literally squeezing the CPU with excessive pressure, you can actually damage the IMC since it's the most fragile part of the silicon limiting it's functionality which causes you to be able to use single channel.

If you think it could be too tight then yes it's a good idea to try loosing it up some and try again.

Occupying more DIMM slots puts more load/stress on the IMC too, so it is typically easier to reach higher DRAM overclocks with a single module, versus two or four.

What Princess Luna mentioned is also true, though.

Just curious, you are able to run both modules at stock frequency?

Have you tried stepping them down one or two DRAM ratios (e.g. DDR4-3400, DDR4-3200, DDR4-2933, etc), and see of that is stable?

Nope it wont even boot with both no matter what, I have it at stock speeds and made no difference

So any comes across this I loosened the bracket and cooler and started working but when if I try and tighten it all the way even going a tiny bit at a time it wont work. The instructions say to tighten all the way down but I guess I'm just going to hope the thermals aren't compromised. Thanks to princess Luna for the idea to check it though.
